Nicholas Pearce has been painting the female face and form for the past 25  years – faces, nudes, and the dynamically sensual imagery of women dancing flamenco.

Born on the Prairies in 1950, he attended the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, then gravitated to the media, where he became illustrations editor for the Calgary Herald. He moved to Canada’s West Coast in 1983 after realizing he had reached the limits placed on artistic expression by the commercial demands of illustration and the newspaper printing process.

His medium is acrylic paint on canvas. He has also developed a fascination and expertise with computers, capturing his images digitally during modeling sessions, using the computer during the initial design and drafting stages of a painting, and selecting the music that puts him into the focused state of mind demanded by the painting process.
